Session 2 - Section A: Types of Trusted Sources
It is the personal and collective consciousness that we are tapping into to get the answers for ourselves and others.
What about religious beliefs? It is important to understand that this is universal - it transcends religion or spiritual beliefs.
If you are highly religious or staunchly atheist, this certainly doesn’t exclude you.
All that is required of you is to:
- Be willing to suspend disbelief for the purpose of exploration
- Accept that some part of you already knows all the answers
- Understand that it is possible to communicate with the part of you that knows
Where is that part?
A 'Trusted Source' – the ‘someone or something that already knows your purpose’ – is devine or trans-personal.
How will you connect to that part – that one or thing? Whom will you trust to answer your questions?
As explained by Tim Kelley in his book titled 'True Purpose - 12 Strategies for Discovering The Difference You Are Meant To Make' (Transendant Solutions Press, 2009) there are three different types of trusted sources – Universal, Personal and Internal
Universal
- People with a Universal trusted source have a belief that 'it' knows everyone’s knowledge, not just their own
- Common names given to Universal trusted sources – ‘Universal Source’, 'Eternal Spirit’,‘Higher Consciousness’, 'God'
- Some may use an intermediary rather than talk directly – eg Jesus, Mother Mary, the ‘Holy Spirit’

Personal
- People with a Personal trusted source believe that someone or something has a special personal interest in their welfare
- Think/feel that the Personal trusted source is ‘watching over them’
- Common names given to Personal trusted sources – guardian angel, guide, spirit animal, loved one who has passed
Internal
- Most atheists, agnostics or strongly mentally-oriented people who find it challenging or uncomfortable to acknowledge powerful or divine forces outside themselves find it more comfortable to relate to an Internal trusted source
- An Internal trusted source can be found by 'Looking inward' rather than externally
- People with an Internal trusted source believe that it is something that comes from ‘within’
- People with an Internal trusted source accept that it is a part of them/their unconscious
- Common names given to Internal trusted sources– soul, spirit, entelechy, gut
